Safi Group LLC. Position Statement

Safi Group LLC. Position Statement

Safi Group provides national urban engagement in youth development, re-entry, community violence, and social justice. Our leadership excels in creating new deliberative ways to improve neighborhoods’ infrastructures to improve the quality of life for its citizens. Using neighborhood infrastructure development to assure economic parity in disenfranchised urban settings is the ultimate goal. Economic disparities occur as a result of hegemonic institutional policies born of racial bias and implemented to maintain the racist biases the status quo provides.

Safi Group’s principal consultant, Robert Douglas, conducted a 15-year empirical research study around community/civic engagement. It was published out of the University of Illinois at Chicago, Institute for Policy & Civic Engagement, College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs (http://www.bit.ly/3bN18Tm). The study found that public/private partnerships often skew results displaying a level of community involvement and engagement that does not exist. The skewing of results leads benefactors to employ economic opportunities that have no direct connectivity to the local communities but instead further support the hegemonic structures that keep communities of color in poverty. Safi Group has elucidated the concept of “counterfeit community” to design a high-quality service model.

Safi Group LLC operates from the comprehensive view of communitarianism. Communitarianism is a philosophy that emphasizes the connection between individualism and collectivist endeavors to accelerate community growth and independence. Safi Group’s business is that of system change through our organizational behavior management.

The economic balance between wealth and poverty is the consumption of goods and services. In an experiential community engagement project, Safi Group, the Principal Consultant, published “The Roseland Civic Engagement Study”: an empirical report which projected that current institutional behaviors influence the underclass most talented to work within their system. The findings were parsed into problems, solutions, and recommendations that describe the counterfeit community theory.

Principal Consultant, Mr. Douglas, contributed to the enhancement of communal and national initiatives including; the Second Chance Act, public education reform, youth engagement, charitable giving efficacy, and community engagement. The central goal of all the work is to advance disenfranchised communities’ inequitable economic opportunities and to dismantle biased public policies that benefit the privileged and harm the disenfranchised. Safi Group LLC intends to create a neighborhood infrastructure development plan to build an economic bridge between philanthropic and community-based organizations through new deliberative engagement consulting, management services, independent monitoring, and evaluation framework best practice.
